This series will focus on the products and services traditionally offered with in the financial services sector and how blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies could completely alter this space.
We will look at two of the primary layers in the financial services industry. One of those layers is the interface layer which would consist of what we traditionally think of banking as (i.e. opening a checking/savings account, depositing checks, withdrawing money, etc.). The other layer we’ll look at is the outsourced layer. This layer exists because financial services has evolved to be much more than a vault that contains its depositor’s valuables, and over time it made more sense for banks that typically only worry about handling and investing client deposits to outsource the services that most people expect of financial institutions today.
